Socorro Bahoy (who took over Mrs. Juminie dela Torre's position as Infection Disease Nurse). The members of the committee formulated policies to ensure effective implementation of infection control for the hospital.
The Infection Control Office is located at the 3rd floor Nurses Station. The Infection Control Nurse coordinates with is responsible for requisitioning the following:
- Plastics for the trash cans and housekeeping needs
- Disposable face masks for the doctors
- One-time ordering of cloth face mask; and
- Cloth covers for the medication trays in the ward.
The risks of acquisition and transmission of infections among patients, employees, physicians and other personnel, visitors, and trainees can be identified and reduced. There is an interdisciplinary infection control program to ensure the prevention and control of infection in all services. The hospital uses measures to prevent nosocomial infections. The hospital uses a coordinated systemwide approach to prevent the risks of infection the staff are exposed to in the performance of their duties. There are also programs for the prevention of transmission of communicable diseases and they are also managed according to protocols.
The Infection Control Unit demonstrates its commitment to environmental issues by considering and implementing strategies to achieve environmental sustainability. The Infection Control Unit of the hospital handles, collects and disposes wastes according to statutory requirements and codes of practice.
